"District 9" is the first sci-fiction movie based on the background of modern Johannesberg, South Africa. Though "Aliens Confronting Human" is a common theme for most sci-fic movies, the crew of "District 9" spices up the cliche with pure humanist perspective, making the somehow familiar transformation (which can be seen in 1986's "The Fly") into pure compassion, and punchy backfire --
What is the true self of human nature?
What is the purpose of setting the scene in Johannesberg?
What else are behind the combat between aliens and human?
Every good play tells a good story.
"District 9" tells an old story in a good way.
Its trailer:
《District 9》-- My Review
A sci-fiction movie which casts new faces with new shooting style for action, drama, and even sci-fiction world. This documentary style is only common in horror movies, and perhaps some actions. "District 9" boldly uses the flashback and documentary techniques in shooting, grasping every vivid moment of thrills shown on the cast's face.
What can represent the role of those aliens in our reality?
And, what is the so-called "Colonization"?
And that is what makes it different...
